This means that a malfunction in the system can impact not only driver comfort, but also vehicle performance and driveability. This is why more and more manufacturers are using heat-pumps, sometimes using CO2 as refrigerant, as the heart of their system. Modern thermal management systems are designed to recover and redistribute heat from multiple sources throughout the vehicle. For example, heat generated from the electric motor can be redirected to warm the cabin, while heat from the inverters can help regulate battery temperature..
